I'm curious, with a few family and friends deflecting to other devices, do you still use BBM, or do you no longer have contacts in your BBM?

    Go...

I've only ever had about 4 or 5 contacts in BBM and I never really use it unless someone talks to me first. I don't see the point, I mean when there are so many other ways of communicating (facebook, unlimited texts etc) I just don't use it.

One contact that will drop me when the relationship ends.....and I'll kill him if he does that, he knows that, so he knows it's better for his health if he doesn't drop me...

    Few family and friends....

    Forum friends....

Not nearly as many as there used to be.

I am down to 1 contact that is in my state, the other 5 are random people that I never talk to and I could delete at anytime and wouldn't miss em. Went from having the majority of my friends and family on BBM to having only 1. I go days at a time without using BBM now.

Never had many in BBM and most are there just-in-case but rarely used. One regular contact I value more than my life, and a few other moderators for occasional quick backroom discussions when one of us is on the road. I learned the hard way that BBM contacts expect instant replies even when it is unsafe or illegal to use a phone.

Do you think we subconsciously expect replies because we see the D and the R?

Funny thing is I tend to do this with Kik. I only use Kik because it reminds me of BBM

When my wife and I both got 8100s back in '07, I had one contact - my wife. Two years later, she got an iPhone, and went down by one to zero. Today, I still have zero BBM contacts.

Regular text works well enough for me. I've texted with all of five contacts over the past year, with the majority of them being with my wife.

I don't really use BBM at all. I have one BBM Group which has been created by people from another forum I am active at. But besides that - nothing. Since I don't really have any closer friends or family members who use Blackberry, there of course are no contacts.

A shame though, because BBM itself is extremely well done and somewhat fun to use.

I have 69 contacts as of now. + 3 BBM groups. Keeps on adding and reducing. Have all my region heads on BBM and we save a lot on Long distance calling within India.
Have quite a few old school friends in the US, who are still on BBM.
Whatsapp sux vis-a-vis BBM ( especially the whatsapp groups, where only the creator can add people, or Broadcast where you need to add people by remembering your phone book rather than select from a list, no permanent muting of group, etc)

i am on it also and use intensely.. for now. the problem is that people are moving away to other platforms and that is an unfortunate truth. the reason im still able to use bbm is because my family and a very few friends still have bb's... its whatsapp for the rest of them...

i hope bb10 brings people back

I have about 5 contacts that I BBM on a regular basis or daily. Used to have ~15. The thing I didn't like about kik (and other messengers) was that you had to turn it on. BBM just works, its on when my phone is on and is reliable.

I know BB10 will bring me back to BlackBerry. But, not sure if I'd invest too much into BBM. As brilliant as it is, with so many choices of communication and so many carriers\devices, I think text\sms is probably the best way to communicate...

I have a few contacts from CB, but I use BBM so infrequently that I had to vote "no". No one in my circle of friends, family, or co-workers has a BB.

I have 63 bbm contacts and am in 1 group. I use it religiously all the time, with family, friends and colleagues. It's definitely one of the main reasons I love my BB. Bring on BB10 .

Until i became more active on the forums, i had 3 contacts. 3. Since i started helping with hybrids, app recommendations, unlocking, etc, i've went from 3 to 21 in about 2 months. If it keeps accelerating at this pace, i'll have a lot of contacts. Despite the fact that a lot of people use iOS or Android, most of my friends have regular phones(EG. Samsung Impact), and one has an android. , two days ago i sold my 9300 to a friend, she LOVES it. she had an LG somethingorother. Only reason i sold the 9300 is because of a sticky J(which doesn't come up that often in a conversation so she doesn't mind) and i got a 9700(for $60 CAD no less). In Short: crApple or Google will have to do something spectacular before i switch.

I've tried KIK, Hookt, WhatsApp, viber, etc. I currently use Hookt to message those on iOS or Android, and i'd text them if they weren't in Africa, Sweden, Europe, ETC. but they are, and i don't know about you, but i can't afford those SMS charges. Unlimited Data due to compression rocks.
