Today a coworker of mine was showing me a new Android phone he just picked up.

I asked him if he wanted to see my new Z30. He swiped between the app screens, opened an app, and handed it back to me because he didn't know how to get out of it.

I showed him the swipe gestures and Hub, to which he remarked "wow, that's so retro. It's like those mouse gestures for desktops that nobody ever used. And that Hub thingy is like a glorified RSS reader. Didn't Google kill off their RSS reader because nobody used it?"

I think he might have been a little embarrassed that he didn't know how to use the phone.

I told him I preferred the Hub functionality over going in and out of apps and home screens to catch up on all my communications, and that I preferred swipe gestures over home and back buttons.

I was a bit puzzled that he thought the features I consider to be way ahead of the curve for a mobile OS were "retro" or a step back.

It just goes to show you how very different people's tastes can be when it comes to smartphones and technology in general.

That's what they always do because they don't want to look like they have an phone which cannot handle these features...they will always say so...but deep inside they know that BB10 has advanced further ahead...other day I was showing my friend how lock screen notification works with all consolidated message and he said ooh iPhone can do this and he showed me one whatsapp message on a screen..thats it that's there answer to lock screen ..i gave him a smile ... he knew that BB10 is way ahead on it..

Retro? It freaks people out that I can do so much without opening an app. I was using my Z10 running 10.2 to record an event and carrying on a conversation with someone through BBM the whole time. Their message pops up at the top of the screen, I tap reply and respond. Still recording. Never left the camera app. I don't have to tell my friends about BB10, just allow them to see it in action

Totally understood at 50 here....with the knees of an 80 y/o. @Op. Pay no attention to those that tend to make excuses. I get the same thing after I let someone "actually touch" my Z10. Retro or not, if ppl still don't know, most will not ask.

Lol well OP you can't fix stupid. Your co-worker just doesn't want to admit there is anything good about it.
