We are currently working on a mobile version for our website (www.bamza.ca) , so I was checking our Google Analytics for mobile devices to see which devices we should test with. I found that I had no visits to my website from any Blackberry 10 device. This was weird since both me and my partner have a Z10 and we use our smartphone frequently to check the website.

I did a bit of testing and have realized that the BB10 browser shows as "Safari" in Google Analytics. This is a big issue for Blackberry. Most website use Google Analytics to monitor their website traffic and if they do not see any traffic from Blackberry-10 in their statistics, they will never invest in the platform.

    BB should fix this ASAP!

I also noticed that on Facebook when you go to privacy settings, there's a section somewhere that shows last logged in and it shows Safari. That would be my Z10 I was using.

Yeah probably not good stats for BB10.

It's probably because of the webkit usage. Chrome used to show as safari at first also for a while. If you look at your browser "About" dialog on the z10 you will see this:

You are right, it does seem to be a webkit issue, because the user agent on the browser seems to be indicating that it is a Z10. So we know it's not a coding issue. It is probably a problem on Google's end, but Blackberry needs to be on their case. They need to do everything that is possible to make sure that Google at least reports the browser.

Crackberry Kevin has pointed it out 18 months ago --- and it is entirely RIM's fault for not getting this issue resolved with various analytics providers. And wall street will continue to under-estimate the amount of market share RIM has because nobody knows the true browser analytics market share. 3rd party developers don't want to make apps because they see all these 1% analytics market share numbers.

So no one thinks they're doing this on purpose? Push out an update once millions of BB10s have been sold so they will - from then on - appear as such. Smart move if you ask me..?

It appears that situations have been improved a little since last year, however, adobe.com still interprets BlackBerry 10 browser as Safari.
