My friend is heading to Austrailia for a semester in a few weeks. Currently he has the Iphone 3gs which he was told will not work with AT&T over there. He is looking for a cheap BB for AT&T that will work over there. Any suggestions?

Is his iphone locked to AT&T? If not he can pick up a prepaid sim card from Optus here in Australia with data allowance included. If it is locked then any GSM BB will work. Optus have great prepaid BB plans. Check out their website on optus.com.au.

The only thing to look out for is that most BB plans with data/push email are per month/contract plans - if he is going to get a prepay AU sim and just use data (which can come out of most prepay credit plans) he would only be able to access the net thru the BB browser, and not be able to use any apps (bbm, facebook, etc).
