So my parents are looking at getting BB from Canada and unlocking it to use when they go to Philippines... what are the data plans for the philippines like, are they expensive or would BBM be the best way to communicate via wifi? just wondering cause if my parents don't have access to any wifi hotspots... just looking at options for them in the Philippines.

Does the carrier have a flat rate International Blackberry plan? May be cheaper to just use this while they are there if so. My boss was there a couple months ago with an AT&T BB and the BBM worked great on the cell network. He was using International plan.

I visit the Philippines often & with Sprint I get the $30.00 unlimited international data & works great in the Philippines. Phone on the other hand is very expensive so I never use it, just the data for BBM & browsing. I just cancel the international data as soon as I get back.
