    Im a tad confused,

I am using an unlocked Blackberry Bold & unlocked Blackberry Pearl 8120.

I am currently on an Orange UK contract and when the orange sim card is in WiFi works fine as does blackberry messanger (even when Mobile connection is switched off)

When I place a Vodafone Australia sim in (it connects to Roaming Vodafone UK) and turn Mobile connection off WiFi does not seem to connect properly and BB Messanger does not work even through WiFi.
Not just that though, GoogleMail app does not work via wifi altho the browser can connect to the internet when the Vodafone Aus simcard is inserted..

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to CrackBerry.

Orange UK does support Unlicenced Mobile Access (UMA), Vodafone does not.

When your Orange SIM card is inserted, you should see the UMA indicator. When that is present, all of your voice and data will use the internet connection.

Without UMA, only the Browser can use Wifi, voice and messages still use the carrier network.
