Ever since the update of 10.1 my battery is a little worse.. as it drains much easier. Or is it the updated sideloaded instagram App? As that's the only sideloaded app I did.

It could very well be your sideload isn't closing down properly. Also do you have skype or another application installed that is a ported app? some of those can drain battery as well

Why is it then my battery life is bad now after the 10.1 update?

Which update are you currently using and what apps do you have installed?

10,000th word that came to mind on CB...

Ho-hum, the battery issue drones on, and on, and on. The Z is underpowered period. For those that do little more than call, a few texts, a couple hours playing on FB or Web, and 1-2 e-mail account, it should get you through the day.

BUT for anyone using apps such as Whatsapp, Skype (in whatever form), or many side loads...and have several email accounts and especially those that want to use the many built-in OS10 features: Sorry you just have to carry that extra battery (ugh) or a charger and find a plug when you can (double ugh).

Possible but not likely that your battery is bad. I can't speak to your release of 10.1, but try to delete all the apps you loaded, then do an overnight benchmark followed by a charge and a workday benchmark. Next shut down, slow, or reduce all the OS10 functions not critical to phone function (ie, screen off tome brightness, gestures, diagnostics, poll time on emails etc....refer to 250 other threads on this issue). Now do another benchmark.

It's doubtful that 10.1 coding, per se, pulls that much more from the battery. Something must have been reloaded, or re initiated, that wasn't present (or deleted or neutered) in your 10.0 at time of upgrading to 10.1.

Here, you'll get sympathy but no definitive answer. But if you get on with benchmarking now, you'll probably have your own question answered before the holiday weekend ends.

Since I updated to 10.1 I found I got occasional high battery use. After my usual methodical excessive battery use checkout, I found a problem, I think, was ActiveSync to my work Exchange account. It may have been going hyperconnected and using much more power. If I shut off all data connections for a while, it would clear the connection and use power normally. Then a day or two later, it would start again. I deleted the work email account, shut off the Z10 for about an hour, turned it on and setup the account. All has been well now for over two days.

Then I found it used unusually high power when in BBM. I was worried it might be the Channels beta. I have an app that replaces my BBM picture with animated GIFs. I wondered if that might be problem. I changed the picture to a static JPG. The energy use while in BBM went way down. I can live without a cute guitar playing kitten for a BBM avatar.
