I too had poor battery life after upgrade to 10.2.1. Then I read the zillions of posts and found 3 things that made a huge difference. I implemented all 3 at once so don't know which one or combination made the difference. The good news is I have gone from about 12-14 hours to 20-24 in heavy days and 36+ on lite days.

Here us what I did based on many suggestions on many posts. It took a ton of time and reading to find all the recommendations but glad I took the time.

1). Turn off BlackBerry Link and only turn on when require. Let's face it, the vast majority of people don't need this on 100% of the time.

2). Turn off sending BlackBerry diagnostics data. I read this one from someone else's post. I did some testing just this weekend and it does impact battery but clearly wasn't the biggest drain of the 3 changes I made.

3). Leave the phone drain the battery totally which will cause it to shutoff. Remove sim and SD card and charge battery in external charger.

Those 3 things I did in conjuction improved my battery left to the best it has ever been. Testing of 2) this weekend leads me to believe 1) and 3) likely contributed more to the significant improvements.

I haven't been streaming media or radio lately and just use for calls, BBM, sms, tons of emails and a few hours on cb a day. I have only 2 email push accounts one EAS (outlook.com) and 1 okay with sync sent to manual. Get all tasks, notes, calendar and email updates in seconds and more often faster than my laptop and desktops.

I only get 3-5 calls a day as I handle most things via some form of electronic messaging be it sms, bbm or email.

I browse the internet and use CB app 2-4 hours a day

This activity may make me an average user but I really don't know.

Just wanted to provide some insights to my typical activity that provides me 32+ hours and even surpassed 40 hours on occasion.

Hope this helps others as I now have the best battery life I have ever had on my Z10 due to 10.2.1 upgrade.

P.s. I have about 40 android apps and use many of them daily and haven't noticed any battery drain. I use the android version of Flipboard from Google play for 1+ hours a day and many other Android apps I have loaded from gplay daily. 10.2.1 with snap has completely closed my app gap. Loving the upgrade.

Just wondering how many BlackBerry 19 headless apps do you have? And also how many email account, social network acc do you have? And finally the brightness and are you using cellular data LTE or 3g?

As I updated to 10.2.1.537, the first day it gave me a pretty amazing battery life... but now after 2 days, see the below pic.

Switch to a Z30 or get a spare battery. The battery life of the Z10 is going to suck no matter what you do to it, its just too small.

Also, can someone post a link to where I can read about letting an OS "settle" for a few days? This phrase was coined here on Crackberry and if you think it takes days for an OS to settle you are living in a dream world.

I've had the same issues my battery life does not last and also gets really hot when im outside the house!?

    Posted via CB10
It might be hunting for signal as you are moving around. Try turning it into a lower setting for network and see if that helps. I used to be able to get 2g on mine but that setting has gone now. If it is hunting, the battery will get hot and drain quickly.

You just need to let it settle. I've been on .1925 for 3 weeks (except 15 hours I was on .2141 yesterday). Even after going back to .1925 it was good. It's like the settling period never happened after switching back. The attachment is from last night. The cycle that starts at 12:25 am is immediately after downgrading so theoretically this should be when my battery is the worst

Is it possible that one simcard/carrier may drain ur device faster than another? I updated to 10.2.1.537 on Mobinil Egypt on Jan 28th and my battery lasted a full day easy. I came to Spain and now using vodafone Spain and battery only lasts afew hrs maximum and drains overnight when device is locked (not on bedside mode).

Can't figure out what's eating the battery, can it be the different carrier?

Is your phone roaming or searching for signal often?

OK now this is a surprise. In my previous post here I showed you guys my Z10 gave me hardly 6 hours. I wiped last night and drained the battery all the way to 0%, took out the battery and kept it for about 5 minutes and then put it back and charged it to 100%.
Now it shows me battery remaining 3 days.

After the wipe, I haven't installed many apps I was using and that includes WhatsApp. However, I'm not sure which app or what exactly caused the battery drain and also, I don't believe I'll get 3 days of battery life from a Z10, that's pure crazy. Logically, it could give me at least 12 hours battery. I'll see what happens and post back the result later.

After I loaded the 10.2.1 leak the battery barely lasted 4hrs with very little use.

Like others have said in some posts I let it completely die and allow the new OS to stabilize. Battery is much better now.

I think certain apps are the culprit to the battery issues that some people complain about. The reason I think this is because I recently installed Flipboard and my battery life has changed dramatically.

I posted this on another thread, but yes there are some android apps that even closed stay active in background, to see them download task killer from bbw. Also since 2141 my battery life has been great, but we can't forget that lithium ion batteries (Z10 in my case) need to be fully discharged at least once in awhile, so they don't develop charge memory.

My battery meter for yesterday, which to be clear was a light usage day in general, but on a regular day I'm getting a 10-12 hours charge.

Yeh mine 86% I think....if I remember right. Another reason for us to think our batteries aren't lasting, when they are also short on charge to start with.

If they don't charge to full usually it's an uncalibrated battery meter. Use your phone till it shuts down, and turn it on again you will see that you can use it even after it says 0%. Keep turning on till the phone battery is completely empty, then charge it without interruption till full. The meter should have reset by then.

If not then faulty battery, but if you have used the OEM charger or old BlackBerry or PB one there shouldn't be any problems.
