A couple of months ago I had a App Error problem, and had to reload my OS.
So my Berry got wiped to out of box condition. I did a backup before I did this.
However when I restored it to the phone, things were missing.
My browser icon, memo icon, and BBM icon. I believe that was it.
So I lost all of my notes, had to readd my BBM business contacts,
and was left with MediaNet temporarily.
    Why would this happen?
It was easily fixed by going to DM > App Loader.
But, I don't want something else to happen where I loose my notes and
have to request again on BBM.

I use the Desktop Manager to backup my phone and I believe it backs up most of your data from the internal applications like contacts, calendar, memos, etc.

But I also sync with Outlook to my desktop computer which acts like a backup of my data. I do not actually use Outlook on my computer but now I do, again, for backup purposes.

I don't need to backup any apps.
The only thing I have is the CB Launcher.
And I can easily put that back on.

I'm only concerned with the internal applications.
    Like BBM, Memo, Calendar, Contacts.

There was never any problems with the calendar or contacts restoring.
But how can I know if the backups I'm doing are even worth the time.
If the one time I actually needed it, it wasn't reliable.

I've never seen anything else like this on the Forum.

I've never had any issues with backups. I just follow the prompts in Desktop Manager for backup and restore and everything is AOK.

I know exactly what you're saying, I do a full on backup once a week and keep 4 on my pc. I also have a selective backup for the memos, 1 for my saved emails, 1 for my contacts, 1 for my apps, etc. I got an email a couple months ago that corrupted my whole friggin messaging set up and learned all about this then. Had to do a total wipe and reload to get everything back to good.
It works as long as you don't back up corrupted or bad data, then it's just a waste of space.

I use version 4.3, when you click backup and restore>advanced>it gives you the option to grab every category seperately, the saved sms's are in the sms
messages category, I don't know why, but i have 2 saved and 0 in my cache, the backup, backed up the 2 saved message, kinda weird, because there is a saved email category.
