as a newbie to bb, i find it v. disconcerting to have the bb looking like its turned off, when the screen is timed out.
is there any way to have some indication that the unit is running, without having the full display on?

options > screen/keyboard > set LED Coverage Indicator to ON.
It is annoying as h3ll but you'll know the phone is on

And if OP thought a dark screen is disconcerting..

Hopefully they'll get used to it, cause blinking BBs are irritating.
