Maybe wait to see if you can get a refurb from ATT, but I don't know if they are available yet. Otherwise buying a used phone off ebay can be very risky. Make sure the seller has a good rating and good feedback. Otherwise I would just buy the phone new. I personally would never buy a used phone. Good luck with whatever you do!

I have never bought a used phone, nor will I ever. Too many issues can come with a used phone. I would take a refurbished phone from my provider however just because I could buy insurance on it. That's just me and my concerns however. You have to do what you feel comfortable with.

After spending more time on these and other forums, I'm hesitant to get used BlackBerries. I'm sure there are a lot of decent folks selling their old BBs, but there are those who take advantage of others (like selling pre-production ones that don't work anymore or selling stolen ones).

If cost is a concern, go refurbished. Otherwise, save up and make it a goal. You don't need to get a Bold right away. You can always start off with a Pearl or Curve, which are becoming more heavily discounted due to their life cycle, and work yourself up to a Bold.

I have bought 3 used phones off eBay
1 kyocrea kx swivel because my mom razor died and she needed a cheap get her by phone.it work perfect mom keeps it for a back up now
2 black berry pearl was my first pearl my wife has it now never a moment trouble and it came with a 30 day warranty from the seller
3 motorolla razor 2 my mom wanted one so bad I finally won her one off eBay for a decent price. She uses it daily now no problems
But you do want to watch feedback history and rate. Good sellers honor their products and back their word up. I have 3 used phones off eBay in my house and all were great worked as expected or better, and were cheap for what they are.
