I've been reading several reviews of BB's on Cnet.com and one complaint they always have is that You can only save apps to the phone's main memory.

Now I know this is a noob question but I'm guessing that's the 256mb of flash memory listed for the 8530 or 9630?

Is 256mb enough? Does anyone have problems with running out of space?

Really excited about getting a crackberry after the holidays

None at all. I have an 8900 with 256mb of application memory, 52 apps
and I have 132mb free. My phone functions just fine.

Most apps have a very small footprint. Themes are another matter and you really do
not want to keep a lot of them on your phone.

So themes go to the system memory as well? Only pictures/videos/music to the sd card? That flash memory is the actual memory not the RAM right? Kinda like a computer?

Correct. Themes and applications can only be installed to and run from app
memory. The memory card is 100% storage.

It's not a problem until an app or theme starts leaking memory. In which case all you need to do is remove it.

This I am going to have to disagree with for no other reason than "memory
leak" is one of the most overused and most inaccurate terms in the BB
    nomenclature.

Memory does not leak. The phone and it's operating system does what it is
supposed to do. People have become so obsessed with monitoring memory that
there are now all kinds of solutions to a problem that simply does not exist.

normally speaking it is not a major issue, but IMO RIM would be better if they allow users to install apps on the memory card.I personally would prefer to keep the device memory free and put all my apps on the memory card.

Ok so with the BB the flash memory is for storage and system RAM?

The only thing I think that is stored on the storage card is the photos, music, videos, voice notes, ring tones.
The apps and the themes are stored on the device memory.

Alright sir. You win. The FB app did give me problems though. Maybe I'll have to install it again and just see what happens and not look at the app memory. Maybe it is just all in the head.
