So tell me if I'm doing this wrong.

I'm installing an app with its .alx and .cod files. I'm pasting the .alx file in the common files directory where there are all .alx files, and .cod file in the directory of .cod files.

But when I run the application loader after I have pasted in the files, and run through it, it says that "no action needs to be taken" as if it does not recognize the new addition.

Am I doing this right? what's wrong why would it not recognize the changes and install the software?

    Thanks

The .alx and .cod files have to be in the same folder.
And a better idea is to make a folder on the C:\drive and use
that for those files. I would leave the OS folders untouched.

Yes but don't the .cod files go into the Java folder?

No. As long as the two files are in the same folder you will be
able to install. It is just not a good idea to place them anywhere
in the Java folder. It makes it easier to find them should you ever
    need to reinstall them.

So what folder should I place them under in?

Just create a new folder on your C:\ drive and give it a name
like BB Install Files and drop everything into that.

But it's still not adding anything .. the application loader..

What OS are you running. Is it one of the many OS 4.5's floating
around and if so did you delete the vendor.xml file as the
    instructions say.

No I'm still running 4.3. Sprint has not released a 4.5 and until they do I'm sticking with 4.3.

OK, then try this. Reboot your PC and perform a battery pull on
your phone (take out the battery with the phone on, leave it out
for 30 seconds and put it back) and then try it again.

What's with all the 'battery pulls' solving the problem eh?

Still nothing. Did the pull and nothing happenned.

This is weird because I just did the memory cleanup as told by that thread using the application loader the other day and it worked just find.. but now it's not detecting any changes to the launch file.

It really is quite a corrective measure as many here and almost every forum can
    attest to.

I'm not exactly sure what that means, but if the .alx and .cod files are in the
same folder and you are clicking Application Loader in DM, then browsing to that
folder, selecting the.alx file NOT the .cod file there is no reason this should not
    be working.

What apps are you trying to install. Maybe installing them OTA (Over The Air)
from your browser might be a better option.

Oh where does the JAD go?

The jad does not go anywhere. Go to wapforums.crackberry.com
    on your phone
, scroll to Blackberry Discussions, and then to this
thread. Scroll to page 2, find my post with the link and click on it. It
will download to your phone. That is over the air (OTA).

You do not need to sign in. And although I never heard of this
app before it is pretty damn cool.

EDIT: I left out one part. Make sure to remove the www first.
