Hi guys, there is a new update for my 9900 bold, but Im kinda angry, because each time I do an OS update I lose all the data from my third party applications like expense manager, endomondo, calorie counter ... etc. Is there a way to backup and then restore this data?

Yep! Its really easy to do, but I wish they would just have this feature built in.

Here's a step by step guide on Crackberry

    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101...our-blackberry

    Quick Summary:

1- Download and install the latest version of Desktop Manager
2- Plug in the device and run Desktop Manager.
3- Click on “Switch Device Wizard.”
4- Click on “Switch Blackberry Devices.”
    5- Click “Next.”
    6- Select USB: Your Pin.
    7- Click “Next”.
8- Uncheck “User Data and Settings” and “Include Messages” leaving “Third Party Applications checked.
    9- Click “Next”.
10- When it’s finished backing up the apps, DO NOT click “Next” or “Cancel.” Leave that screen as it is and continue these instructions.

11- Search your computer files/folders for a folder labeled with your pin number. Be sure and search in hidden and system files.

Depending on your OS the location may vary. In one example it is found XP-32bit C:\Documents and Settings\*ProfileName\Local Settings\Temp\*Pin#

12- When you find it copy it to another location.
13- Now go back and “Cancel” the Switch Device Wizard. If you cancel the wizard before copying the folder to another location the folder is automatically emptied.

    Your backup is complete.

    Restore

1- When the OS has been loaded back to the device run Application Loader again and click on “Add”
2- Browse to the folder you copied with your PIN. Double click on the file named yourpin.alx.
3- This should add all your 3rd party apps to the apploader.
4- Finish the installation to load them to your BB.
5- Restore your personal data using the restore feature in Desktop Manager Backup/Restore

Most apps have settings within them that will allow you to backup your data to you SD card. So once you reinstall, you can restore the data from your SD card.

Also, doing an OS update shouldn't delete your apps, especially if you do it through the Desktop Manager.

    Never update over the air.

Use BBSAK to extract all the .cod files of your app onto your PC. Then use the .cod files to install all of your app back onto your phone via BBSAK. Easy as pie

No way to do this. Sure you can backup/restore all your apps, but the data within them will be lost.

As stated above some apps allow you to backup the data, but now all of them do.

Sorry there. Some thing got lost in translation. I thought he want to back up his third party apps, not the app data......
