on app development
help me understand..
y cant facebook, twitter etc develop their own apps for bb???
y do they depend on bb development team to make it for them???
wont it b even great if they do it themselves... expect awesome user interface, n loaded with missing features.
anyone plz help me understand
i know bb makes them their data plan dependent,,, but what do fb and twitter gain out of it.. i guess if its not bis/bes dependent it will reach a large customer base and thus more clicks for them and ultimately will earn them more money.Last edited by shahidzor; 12-29-2012 at 02:43 AM.

Facebook and Twitter don't want to ---> RIM builds them by themselves. Quite sad when you think about it.

The FB app on my 9930 is fine. If RIM built it and their the ones that keep improving it, I say job well done.

Must sound like a silly question but if RIM makes those social networking sites for FB and Twitter why can't they make Instagram as well wouldn't be the same thing as developing the FB or twitter?

I think it's because Facebook and twitter have public API's, so RIM can make their own app and tie into those. That's why there are several twitter and Facebook apps/clients out there. Where as something like Instagram is closed and can only be developed by Instagram. Though I do think that for apps like that RIM should contact the developer and propose a deal where RIM would make the app themselves and a portion of the revenue would go to the original developer. I actually made a thread about this a while back.
Edit: here is my original thread started last feb. It's kinda neat that some of those things I mentioned will be in BB10.
RIM's Playbookall smartphones are tools.
android = 48pc tool set (you"ll eventually find the tool you need, but some assembly required)
iphone = swiss army knife (most of the tools you need in a small, simple to use package)
blackberry = adjustable wrench (sometimes all you need is a wrench)
windows phone = bionic wrench (its different....but it works) - 12-29-2012, 06:02 PM #12
