Short answer, yes! I miss the trackpad (not the ball).

I've got a Z10 and the full touch is a nice experience most of the time but for marking and copying text it is simply not as good as the old BB devices. I've had a lot of practice and a lot of frustration with the text selection on the Z10- especially when you trying to get at stuff close to the edges of the screen. How do you make the selection circle go one character to the left when the top left part of it is off the screen? All of this was much easier with a trackpad/ball.

I wasn't sure if I could make the transaction from a BB7 device to the Z10. I was doubtful if I could live without the keyboard but thought I would give it a try and if it didn't work out then I would swap to a Q10 when that was (eventually) released. I certainly do miss the physical keyboard and am tempted by the Q10 BUT, without a trackpad on this device, I think it selecting text on the Q10 would probably frustrate me even more than it does on the Z10 does.

I do believe that some of the other posters on this thread are correct and the loss of the trackpad was a considerable factor in the failure of the Q10 to be a success. Traditional BB users like the trackpad and the whole text editing experience is a lot poorer without it. This is not technology advancing, it is a backwards step that has contributed to the difficulties that BB finds itself in.

Trackpad over a track ball as this was a good advancement, not once has my track pad broken down where the ball trackball was open to getting "gunk" caught in it

If the Q10 had a trackpad I would definetly have bought one. The issue as was mentioned by an earlier post I picked up a Z10 with 10.0 and the copy and paste was a nightmare....

This is what Blackberry just dont get...The thing with first impressions is that you only get one

A lot of people from a track pad back ground would have picked one up (Z10) and copy and pasting text would have been a night mare and prob like me would have walked....

Yes! I definitely miss the trackpad and I am banging my head to text select long sentences in a single line field. If the Q10 had a scrollwheel, as I could see more use with that than the trackpad, I would've been that much happier.

My first experience with a scrollwheel was in around 1997/1998 on a Sony CMD Z1 and on a few other models after that, it made sense then and it makes sense today, I could practically navigate the whole phone using it by counting the clicks.

8800 with a trackball. What a great phone. Yes I miss it but the polished up memory may evaporate quickly once I use it again.

I have had 4 BB track ball phones, the last being the Bold 9000 and don't miss it a bit. I can move around through the OS on my Q10 faster than I could with the track ball.

You can hardly say the Thorsten Heins runied the whole company. The board has a lot more power than does he.

And I would wager that most people would rather have the larger screen over the trackpad.

    Why not both?

Old El past figured that out.

Miss the trackpad almost every time I use my Z10. Editing is a pain, especially at the right boarder. Lack of a trackpad was one of the things that stopped me from getting a Q10. A 9900. Style with BB10 and a bigger battery now that would be a work phone.

Trackball /Trackpad was good for its time and that time has come and gone. The touch screen setup on 10.2 makes navigation and text selection a breeze!

I had a Torch 9800 and a 9810; the track ball is amazing but I had trouble with the track ball on the 9800.

It finally quite working and the home button stopped working, that is when I got the 9810. After I had this phone for several months the track ball started giving trouble, not as bad as the problem with the first phone, the track ball was functional.

The Z10 was released and I was interested in an upgrade to the new BlackBerry 10 OS. I have been very happy with using a phone with out the track ball.
Aren't you talking about the trackpad? I don't believe the 98 has a trackball... wait, I'm pretty sure it doesn't...

The Storm, indeed, neither had a trackball nor a trackpad.. I found this to be hell on earth... However, I think you're mistaking a trackpad for a trackball...
