I'm asking anyone reading this, despite what device or OS you're running. It seems all my past BlackBerry devices has some sort of hobby to heat itself up at random times and places, and when it does, it slows down to 1/3 it's speed, and the battery drains 3x as fast.
It feels as if every BlackBerry device's own weakness is itself.

But I want to know if I'm the only one who keeps experiencing this. Probably not, but I want to hear it out from others because it's kinda sad when your own device is the reason it keeps slowing down.

Don't get me wrong. I love BlackBerry devices, but it seems as if each single flaw on their device is a really big one.

I don't have this problem. You might want to try using the device monitor to determine the culprit.

My BlackBerry Z10 overheated a couple of times during a particularly humid period last summer when I had it in a Poetic case. I can't rule out the case as the culprit due to lack of ventilation. I removed the case and after three recharges the battery stopped overheating. Prior the battery got so hot it almost burned the palm of my hand. I stopped using the Poetic case. All previous and subsequent BlackBerry smartphones have not suffered from an overheating battery.

All my previous devices (9300, 9800, 9800) all suffered a heating problem despite what case they're in. I thought from then that majority of their devices would do the same. I expected it with the Z10, and my device heats up regularly even after maybe just 15 minutes of constant use (Unless in an air conditioned room, of course.).

My legacy devices would heat up when having bad reception. My Z10 mostly only playing android games. I have yet to see it on my Z30.

That is wrong on so many levels!
Secure wipe your phone and change the passwords to every account you have and lay off the free 'ad-pushing' apps with 'shared file' permissions.

Had it happen on my 9810 a few times whilst the phone has been idle. Not sure what causes it but a battery pull seems to cure it.

My Z10 only gets warm when I am either running an Android Game or I am installing an OS from an Autoloader. I have noticed this is particularly so when my Z10 is in it's flip case so I try to leave it out of its case when I am in the home or office. I have not noticed it slow down during these periods though.

Previous devices I never had any issues with except for the 9360 where I had 2 batteries that used to drain real quick and one used to whiteout the screen. 3rd time lucky I had a decent battery and it's been fine ever since. My 8100 and 9105 Pearls have had no issues what so ever.

It does indeed seem like there are others with issues and others with no issues in relation to this thread.

My Z10's ( 2 of them) got hot and the motherboard fried on both of them. I'm not a big app guy either.
Since I work either in a barn, shop, or outside, my phones are in Otterbox defenders. With manure, dust, mud and grease being what I want to block from getting into my phone. Also to keep it from the usual bumps and drops associated with working around livestock and heavy equipment.
So, if it's the case, then I hope that there is a warning in the Z10 packaging from now on to state that they shouldn't be in a case.

If overheating simply occasionally use a can of dust to clean your z10. I work on the trimming industry lots of dust and what not and know exactly what you are talking about. I also have it on an otterbox defender.
