The built-in media player works fine for me while I here quite a bit of criticism on it in general. What is so bad about it and what is so great about the alternatives? Maybe I don't know what I'm missing ?

I think its fine for you tube and the podcast but if I try to look at a video on a site it won't even open. Am I doing something wrong?

Cracken... The sites probably use flash for the videos and if that's the case your BB will not play them. Only android devices w Froyo will do this I believe.
