ALT key won't work 8703e

I just bought an 8703e at Ebay. The ALT key doesn't work for numbers when typing e-mail text. Everything else works great! Any ideas or workarounds?

try pressing repeatedly and rocking in circle, if that does not help it is dead key and need new keyboard
