Good gravy, no. And not because BB10 is anything to write home about. Moving to Android after almost 12 years with BB -- and particularly after the last three -- can only be described as a relief.

This resurfacing nostalgia for BB7 is the result of the glaring omission of KEY & UNIQUE features that didn't make it to BB10. We should be moving forward, not going backwards. This reminds me of the recent situation with Xbox doing a 180 on their decision for their next console. Now we are going to be stuck in the past for a few more years again... so so dumb.

If BlackBerry isn't in overdrive to offer these things, they are playing games with the companies future.

Still use my 9900 for work and my z10 for personal... Looking forward to replacing my 9900 with a q10 ... I still prefer the email on my 9900 connected to bes5 but that is probably just the awful z10 keyboard... I'm sure the q10 will sort that

Actually, I'm still on OS5! I am still using my trusty 9700, and very happy with it. I can do almost anything with just one or at the most two button presses, I can go from sound to vibrate by holding the Q key, I can speed dial by pressing any of a number of buttons, I can do home screen shortcuts with ease, the battery lasts an enormous amount of time, etc, etc. I would be very happy with a better browser, and a faster processor, but I guess I will wait until BB10 has it together. There are just too many simple, easy things that I would miss if I got a Q10 now. I really hope 10.2 has these things, but the thought of having to swipe just to do this or that, and no end call button, well, I won't even get into the ease the trackpad brings.....

I think we have to realize these are very different phones with totally different (sadly in some cases) operating systems. I too have my 9900 set up beautifully with various ring tones etc and other than being a bit slow compared to my Z10 and of course my 9900 did freeze occasionally (not often though) it was (and still is) a great phone. I thought when I got the Z10 it would be more of the same only even more brilliant. In truth it is radically different (IMO) but damn it's fast and yes I like it. Just wish it had a bit more of my 9900's genetic material.
Have to look ahead and not wish for the past. My 2 cents.

what is missing from BB7 for apps? I've been looking at trying out blackberry again (my last was 6 years ago) and I know what is missing from BlackBerry10, but not the legacy apps (for examples, is there any google ecosystem support at all?)

No. Not really. I think having BIS email type functionality on BlackBerry 10 might be cool. Other than that I can't think of anything BBOS did better. And the BIS email would only be nice if the attachment limits were much larger, and it added true two way sync. In other words I'd like the current BlackBerry 10 email but with a delete on handheld only option. That is all.
