I've been on the Z10 and a little of the Q10 since they were released on Verizon. I like the phones. But when I went back and started messing with my old Sprint 9930, I realized how much I actually missed the bb7 phone. I had that thing set-up perfectly (3 short buzzes for text/bbm while in holster, long ones for phone calls, multiple alarms, sleep mode where text/bbm/phone would work, different custom profiles for holster/out of holster, etc.) I think I was more product on the 9930 than on the Q10. Maybe it was because the terrible browser....
Swiping on the Q10 seems like it wasn't designed for it (Z10 is fine).

So, as a heavy BB user and that is my impression, I'm wondering what the legacy user's first impression of the Q10 will be? Maybe this is one of the reasons BB is losing its own BB7 users?

Nope. Though I never used OS7. My legacy experience started with OS5 and stopped with OS6. I was an avid themes downloader. Constantly trying to get the basic OS to show the information I wanted on the home screen. However, it was so painfully slow trying to look in app world for a theme, then trying to download it, reboot. I finally gave up in frustration.

With the Hub on my Z10 I no longer need to try to customize. It's so quick and easy to swipe into everything I need. And when I do cruise through BlackBerry world it's fast and easy to download something.

And I tried to download Crackberry a couple of times on my old phone. I ended up deleting it every time. It was painful to try and use.

So no. I don't miss the legacy OS.

I've had to temporarily switch back to my 9900 and I gotta tell ya I'm Jonesin' for my Z10! I miss so much about it I don't even know where to begin. It's not that the 9900's a bad phone it's just that the Z10 is so much better at many, many things. Outside of the OS there are some physical differences I prefer on the Z10; I'm finding it hard to adapt back to the 9900's keyboard, I'm that much more comfortable on the Z10's VK, something that came as a really big surprise to me. The screen of the 9900 seems tiny now and I'm constantly finding I'm having to scroll left to right to read some emails and almost all web pages, this was something I wasn't so fond of before but I positively hate now.

So no, OS7 was competent, BB10 is far superior on so many levels.

All I want is my legacy BB with the body, browser and keyboard of the Z10 and I'm in heaven! From reading other treads apparently the legacy OS had been pushed to the limit and couldn't be upgraded any further. That's a shame......

"Admit it, don't you miss BB7?"
    No.
I never had 7, I had 5 and 6 but I couldn't care less about the legacy OS.
Multitasking Z10 is excellent and any missing features are easily added.

Honestly i was afraid to miss some of the advanced tweaks from BBOS.
All is forgiven since the perfect support for EAS and CalDav allows me to sync two calendars, my contacts and notes perfectly.
No longer do i have to deal with tiers solutions like Funambol or Google Sync for desktop.
As for EAS, it is as fast as BIS

Good points by everyone. Now here is what Blackberry should be doing: Grabbing all of your responses and somehow communicating that to the legacy users. BB's survival depends on getting 70 million users to upgrade to BB10.

Another point to consider: Blackberry sold 2.7 million BB10s in three months. Apple sells that many iPhones in one week. There is a huge market out there of customers buying/upgrading phones. Blackberry somehow needs to tap into this market and keep its current users while getting a few to transition over from Apple/Android.

I missed aspects of it, like the Notifications...But then I saw a survey in Beta Zone where BlackBerry was asking about how to improve BB10 notifications, pretty much giving it away that they'll be returning them to how they were in OS7 (like having short/medium/long vibrations).

That's all I miss about it. And on my Q10, I do miss the keyboard shortcuts, where B would bring up the Browser. I think someone from BlackBerry has said that those shortcuts will be returning too. So I'm just enjoying all the other new things in BlackBerry 10 while I wait for some of the old functionality to return.

I miss BB7 about as much as I miss being 15. It was great at one point but i've since grown. That's how I look at this whole BBOS/BB10 thing.

There are a few features from older BlackBerry models that I would like to see on my Q10...but I won't jump out of the window for them.

Never gave it up so I don't miss it.
But if I did ever give it up I'd miss it.
I have both the 9900 and the Q.
Surprised some don't miss it. The Q is a good phone, but my 9900 does more at this point. It's not nostalgia like someone mentioned just the facts.

No, I really don't. Even with the missing features that have yet to be carried over BB10 is so much better that I can barely remember what they were.

Cannon to the right of them,
Cannon to the left of them,
    Cannon in front of them
    Volley'd and thunder'd;
"STORM"'d at by shorts from hell,
    "BOLD"ly they typed and well,
    Into the jaws of Death,
To teach them the meaning of
    SELL LIKE HELL!

I'm going to be as honest as I can.
I've used the BlackBerry Bold 9900 since it released till now. Even though I love my Bold, I actually don't miss anything from it. I love BlackBerry 10 and since I've got the Z10, I have not touched my Bold 9900.
