I recently purchased the ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter (IPD reader for SMS messages) and was surprised that they (whoever "they" are) would not provide a registration key (necessary to "unlock" the demo version of the software) unless I provided a "non free email address" (I use GMAIL).

Is this normal practice? If so, what's the reason? Since I lack a "non free" email address, I was unable (read: they were unwilling to provide) to get a key (naturally, they didn't have any problem charging my credit card for the purchase).

Just wondering if this is "normal" practice. THanks.

I'd be p*ssed and calling my credit card company and have a dispute on it.
