9790 vs. 9810 Durability?

So I'm looking into trading up my ancient Blackberry Pearl 81xx to either the 9790 or the 9810 and I've read the tech specs but I was wondering which phone has a better durability. I've heard that the materials of the 9790 aren't as good as the 9900 (which is too big for the pocket of my jeans) and I've seen some pretty colourful and scratched 9790 screens but I don't know much about the 9810 materials. Would someone care to enlighten me?

And if you were wondering how much I care for my Pearl: I drop it onto the floor/gravel/pool deck once a week at least, I always play with the clicky slide thing that protects the SIM card and the battery, and I always sit on it when it's in my back pocket. It's still in perfect shape though and as fast as it was when I first got it. Would the 9790 or 9810 be in better shape? And would either of them be in good shape? Thanks!

If you drop your phone often then the slider form factor probably isn't for you.

i have a 9810 and it's a rock. it gets scraps but it really solid. i've dropped it on the concrete from 6'3" and it is not phased. I have not used a 9790 but you can't go wrong with the torch slider for durability.

i feel the candy bar is more durable than the slider. everytime my wife drops her 9810 it slides open if it hits hard enough. the slider just adds one more thing to break in my opinion

First off, good for you for keeping a Pearl for so long. Aside from that, you can get a 9900 for a free upgrade, at this point, and buy a holster and that will solve the pocket problem. I still have a 9700 and was called today for a free upgrade to a new BB so if you can't wait till BB10, take the 9900.
