Last week I switched from a 8830 to a 8130. I have noticed that the reception seems weaker on the 8130. I have dropped a few calls in places that I did not drop with the 8830. Anyone else experience this?? I want to make sure that it is not just MY 8130. Also, is it just me or is the volume lower on the 8130? Not ringer, call volume?

My 8130 has EXCELLENT reception and the volume is very loud, infact, I can notch it down a couple times and still hear good...and I'm OLD, ha! It never drops calls on the Verizon network around here.

I am with verizon not sure about alltel but the same problem happened with mine. It was the phone which the exchanged it now it works fine.

Reception, volume or both? I have to crank the volume almost all the way on the 8130. Never much past half on the 8830.

For me on Verizon, my reception is excellent (i usually have better then most people) and i have to have my volume at half-way (2/3rds if driving).

The reception did get much better after the switch. Same as Gibralter far as reception.
Verizon did say some of the new phones 8130 still had kinks. Call them they shouldnt give you a problem on exchange or goto the Verizon store.

The reception in this area is great so I've never had problems with dropped calls... or volume.

Just switched from an 8830 to a 8130 and am loving it. No reception issues to report. I thought the keyboard would be an issue but it is so simple after a few days.

I have had both the 8100 and 8800 series and reception and volume were both good.

Thanks for the replys. I think I will have Alltel swap mine for a different 8130. Since we got the new PRL, it seems to drop the network from time to time also. Must be a dud.
