I have a curve 8330 running .127 os. and I can not get the gps to work. I called alltel and they told me I had to install telnav to unlock the gps. I have telnav installed and bb maps will not lock on to a sat. Any help would be great

You don't need to install Telenav in order to use the GPS on the Alltel Curve.

What you do need to do, is to install the 4.5.0.131 version of the OS onto the device.

And the sun being out certainly doesn't matter although perhaps you were being facetious.

But be sure that you are waiting at least 10 - 15 minutes to get the initial satellite lock.

There is a thread in the GPS and Mapping forum that covers how to fix the GPS lock issue.

The Alltel GPS is not locked. But there's something with the .127 that causes it to not work correctly. The .131 OS is all that is needed.

Its not to fix the VZW lock down issue. This is for all BlackBerry running into problems in a-gps mode. Most of the time its because the server settings for a-gps are blank.

My posts were only directed toward Alltel Curves. The GPS on Alltel Curves is not locked.

Hey, I was trying to look for the Alltel Curve OS .131 but all I could find that is current is .127. I noticed there is a Sprint OS for the Curve that is .131 but not sure if my phone or Alltel (the service, not what they think) will appreciate it. My true question(s) is if it's the Alltel .131 OS would there be any way you could point me to the right direction for the download or if it's the Sprint Curve OS if it'll be okay for my Alltel 8330.

    Many Thanks!

I have the 8330 not the 8330m. Do you think the m version would work on my 8330?

Yes the GPS IS locked on the Alltel 8330. I had the same issue and followed the process at the link below to fix it. Now it works like a charm no matter what OS I am running. BTW when I updated to .131 before I followed the process from the link below, it still didn't work. I HAD to do this "hack" or pay for Telenav.

Load the Sprint released version. It will work just fine.
