I have a Curve 8310,working almost perfect except GPS.
I have tried refreshing the gps many times.
And it fails very quickly, maybe 1 sec.
I learn that refreshing gps usually takes a few minutes.

Maybe you all might have some advice. Thanks.

What exactly do you mean by "fails"? The application isn't working? What GPS app are you using? Do you have GPS enabled on your berry?

    en ,i am a freshman,and i don't know how to enable GPS
But I get "gps data source Device GPS","Gps services Loacation ON" and " Location aiding Enabled" in "Options -> Advanced Options -> GPS".
and i didn't install any gps application.
i googled how to use GPS,but failed in the first step.
    like this:

1.Make sure that the GPS is working and has connection to satellites. Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> GPS -> select the menu and choose “Refresh GPS”.

Someone tells me “Refresh GPS” takes a few minutes even there is no satellite,
    but my blackberry fails immediately

I hope i can find answer in the forums
    thank you for your replay

Are you in an area where phone has a clear view to the sky?
Try that. If that doesn't work, have you tried doing a battery pull?
Download google maps as well. Its a free gps app and start it up. See if google maps pinpoints your location. Let me know if any or all of these options work when you try them.

In the same area my friend's mobile find 12 satellites.
    Battery pull seems no help.
    I have installed Google Maps.
It can only point my location roughly, and show me something like
    "GPS temporarily can't be used".
The Google maps i installed is chinese version,so i am not sure what
    it says in English.

    Thanks

Download the english version. You can find the link under free 3rd party apps here on the website.

if that fails, hook it up to desktop manager and restore your phone to the last restore date you did on your computer.

it sounds to me like you have tried all other methods once you try that, so if desktop mgr fails, I would say go to your nearest carrier's store and see if they can figure it out. At this point it sounds like from the info you are providing it can go either way as to whether its software problems or hardware at this point.

    Is phone still under warranty?

Post back and let us know how it goes with the english version of google maps and the restore.

I installed Google Maps English version & Rom v4.5.0.174,
but the problem also can't be solved.

The seller promise to send me another one.

Oh..,I got "GPS Temporary Unavalible" from the Google Maps English version.

Thanks a lot for giving me these advice

I got that as well yesterday when I brought up my google maps. It took a few minutes for it to pinpoint my location.

But as long as the seller is sending you a new one its no big deal. Hope it works out for you.
