Who else would want the option to turn the orange led off, as when it's on it kills more battery lol.

Options are always welcome. However, I'm really ok and fine with the low battery indicator. It's not a good idea to drain your battery to 0% anyway.

Me for one. It really just needs to blink a few times to let me know my battery's about to die. I find this feature really annoying.

Not a complaint it's been there since day one with legacy. It's a suggestion would actually save battery in times of needs.

The idea of it blinking indefinitely is to remind you that you have to plug it in or else you might forget it.

But yeah... it does burn more battery. Is there some other approach? Like blink less often ?

Not really. The amount of battery that 1 LED is draining, is very insignificant compared to everything else that is in the phone: CPU, radio, wifi, bluetooth, screen, etc.

The Z10 battery is 3.6V 1800mAh. The LED that is used in the phone likely is along the lines of 3.6V at 20mA.
Since the battery capacity is 1800mAh, it means I can use the battery to power the LED for 1800/20 = 90 Hours.
But wait, the LED isn't solid red, it is flashing. If the light flashes for 1 second every 5 seconds. That means it's on for 12 seconds every minute, or 12 minutes every hour, or 4.8Hours every day.

So if everything else is off including the phone, you could theoretically power this one LED, blinking once every 5 second, for 90/4.8Hours =18 Days!!

Yes, simple calculation says it's pointless to turn off the LED to save power.

If it's annoying, well, yeah, it should be. It's tell you to CHARGE YOUR PHONE!

I understand it's a nice to have but BlackBerry has much bigger fish to fry.

It's like that email from IT telling your turn inbox is full. SO STOP SENDING ME EMAIL FILLING IT UP MORE!

But really just a drop in the ocean.

Yup, I wouldn't mind this option. Sometimes you just can't charge or swap batteries when you need to and the flashing LED is distracting when waiting for one message to come through.

I get irrationally anxious when I see any of my BlackBerry devices going nuts over the battery going low. I can't relax until I charge the darn thing so the LED stops flashing. It does the job well haha

At least you can see that it's still on without having to activate the display to make sure, which would use way more battery.

Yet, an option is of course always welcome. The more options the better.
