So, I'm on 10.3.1.1565 and just today received the notification about the new OTA update (10.3.1.1179). It is said to be an around 100MB download. I've got more than 1GB free. I know I need more than 100 MB cause the phone has to download and expand the update..But..what the hell: more than 1GB?!? Even more interesting: it stops the updated during installation (not downloading) at around 65% but it doesn't return a space error..My Q5 just tell me the download has been 'interrupted'. Maybe is not a free space issue?

My Z10 complains about space running out when around 1GB free... :-(

So, looks like the phone needs free space to operate, left alone expand and install a new update.

If I'm not mistaken OTA update needs at least 2,5 GB of free storage.

First off make sure you DO actually have enough space I have come to learn it's really hit and miss. Just keep trying had this issue on my Q5 and Z10 I kept trying and trying. Powering down. Restarting hard reboot via holding both volume keys down. Just keep trying you'll get it eventually!

Hi. If I were in your situation, this is what I would do. Connect your phone to Blackberry Link and do a complete backup. Now you have your information safe on your computer. The next step is to perform a security wipe with the device plugged in. This will erase everything hence cleaning unwanted files. After the device is wiped clean, perform the update during the initial device setup. Let your phone rest while downloading/installing the update. Now that your device is up to date, restore the information you would like back to your Blackberry, if needed, via Link on your computer.

If your doing the update OTA with WI-FI, turn off the Mobile Network and use WI-FI only.

I've tried the BB Link way..The result? Updated stopped at 92% even with 1 GB free..The phone froze, I gotta restart with the pressure of the volume keys because a pop-up message kept coming..After the restart the memory is near to 0% free so I gotta connect the Q5 to my pc and remove files from the Q5 through the PC. I restarted again and the space occupied by the OS update(I suppose) is still NOT FREE. How to free it? Don't tell me I have to format my BlackBerry and that there's another way..

I assume BB10 likes more than 2 GB free (3 GB on the Passport). With 2GB free it can map it's RAM fully to SSD. Just a thought (no technical info the back it up).
