    connectivity has a lot to do with it, I suggest removing and readding such contact/s

    It happens. Eventually their new avatar will push through.

    If you always have BBM open, try fully closing it by long-pressing the X on the active frame (instead of tapping the X as per usual). You could also end your chat with the contact and start a new one, but your chat history will be gone.

    Lastly you could try resetting the Hub too. Close the BBM App again, then go to the Hub. From top right corner of screen, quickly swipe your finger diagonally down (towards center of screen). You have to swipe diagonally down 5 times in a row.
