First of all, if this has been answered anywhere, my apologies. I did do a search but came up empty handed. Running 10.2.1.2102 on a Blackberry Z10.

My question, in the settings of BBM, there is an option to save chat history. Does this mean, when turned on, that if I switch devices, say to a Z30, that when I log into that device, my chat history will be saved? That would be nice and easy.

I have found conflicting information that says I need to save it to my sd card and I just want to clear this up so I know what I'm getting myself into. Thank you for your time.

As far as I know BBM chat history is saved to your device memory. SO if you switch phones you would need to find it on your device memory and copy it to your PC and then transfer it to the same folder on your new phone. I don't believe saved BBM chat history means that it automatically pops up on your new phone.

And if I am wrong, because I may well be, someone will help me to get you the correct information. Let's hang on and see what they say.

I'm going to the source. Just contacted the BBM team on twitter and I will report back here with what they said.

I got the answer. Save chat history in BBM allows you to view your history after you have ended a chat. You can't transport your BBM chat history to a new device. That's something I sure would like to see if subsequent updates. Would that have to be an OS update, or an update to bbm?
