@gadway (Jeff Gadway of Blackberry) tweeted about 45 mins ago (5pm MST, 7pm EST) that there's an update for BBM. Because of the backlash against default stickers, he said there would be "news" about BBM this week. This could be it. One can only hope.

Anyway, this shows they do actually care. So for those that want
- uninstalling unused Sticker packs (the wise words of nah)
- the emoticon tray to stay open
- the position of the list to stay
- the addition of the emoticons they showed a while ago (pizza, penguin etc)
I suggest to start your own thread along these lines, on all major communities.

Bbos can uninstall stickers...

Also, with group stickers... now it's more important than ever that group chats open to the oldest unread message, not the most recent. Would like an overlay button that jumps to the bottom with that.
Or vice versa, when opening the chat there should be an overlay up arrow button that takes you to the oldest unread message

If you START a message with an emoticon you're forced to view stickers and then switch. You MUST have text selected to default to emoticons. It's an odd way to do it. Better than before anyway, and at least they're listening. If you have to type a space, it's that same "extra click," as before, albeit far less annoying somehow.

Maybe if we remain vocal for a while the BBM team will be able to see more clearly what improvements their users are hoping for.

The latest version of Bbm resolved the issue with the stickers.
You text, you choose an emoticon and you are on the default emoticons to choose.

But after you purchase a new sticker pack, you have the same problem like before.
Now when I want to choose a emoticon, I'm in the sticker.

I've a couple of complaints.... the latest update didn't fix the sticker/smiley default issue. Sometimes it stays where I left it, sometimes it reverts to stickers. I never use stickers.

My other issue is the 'invite more' button. Maybe not an issue for most but I wish it wasn't located between the keyboard and the text box. The amount of times I've accidently invited someone to a conversation that's private....

Is there a way to evict them?

The invite more button is broken too..
If you are in a A-B chat, sometimes it will send a request to B asking for permission to invite contact C to the conversation

Other times it just invites the contact without permission of contact B.
No idea why

If you start typing, it gives you emoticons. If you have not started typing, it defaults to stickers. I like it this way, because if you are in the middle of typing, you are not going to send a sticker. If you are sending a sticker, you will not have been typing. Seems good to me. Not going to please everyone.

More than this, I wish BBM Channels was a separate app. Not because I don't use channels, but because I DO. The way it is, you can't multitask between a BBM chat, and using Channels. You have to keep navigating within BBM between them. Would be better to be able to multitask between the two - keeping your place in both. Guess this is for another thread though...

Back to stickers - if only they allowed us to un-install sticker packs, those that hate stickers could remove ALL stickers, and BBM should then NEVER show the sticker picker - as there would be none to pick (assuming BBM was smart enough to realize that) :-)

You can still keep emoticons as default. Touch the emoticon symbol--swipe to the right and tap the settings symbol. You can then turn off stickers etc
