New BBM Beta has back up feature?-img_20150416_044540.png

    A "back-up now" function exists.

Let me just say that it would blow my mind if it were true.

I'm not on the bbm beta program so can I get a confirmation from someone who is?

    Thanks!

It means that the beta version before this new one has the Backup Now feature, or you wouldn't be able to backup your chats now for this new beta.

Can you take a screenshot of the feature?

Does the feature create an external (moveable) backup file like whatsapp on BlackBerry 10 does? Or is it internal?

Yeah, I was pretty excited about this. Definitely a huge addition even if it's not as flashy as new stickers or whatever.

There's also the new email based "Contacts" vs "BBM contacts". Wish they would have had this when they rolled out cross platform BBM.

Can you back up on one device, switch devices and then restore on the new device?

Where is the backup stored? On device? BlackBerry servers? App data?

I'm also trying to figure this backup also. New update has the feature and when you select back up now it just says backing up.

I've searched the device memory and media card memory, can't find any chat backups.
Really wish BlackBerry would have clarified this feature.

They might link it to your BBID and keep on their servers. So, activating BBM on another device should restore it automatically I would expect. I don't have two phones to test it out. Would be nice if it's cross platform restore.

LOL. I don't want BlackBerry storing any of my info. It would have been way nicer had they made that clear, if that is the case. And what kinda nonsense.. if it can backup to server why can't I backup to SD?
With password keeper, the button is called "cloud backup" and you can backup to SD..
    All hypothetical, of course.

I have two devices and switched BBM with them. My backed up chats didn't transfer. However when I switched again to my original device my chats came returned up to the back up I made yesterday.

Looks like the backup is not to the BlackBerry servers.

Any backup is a security risk whether it is to clouds or SD card and even BlackBerry link.

End your chats as soon as possible.
