Just got this email from BlackBerry about BBM v10.7.5.24 if you're in the limited beta for BBM on BB10. The Beta Zone app is giving be a "bad gateway" error right now though.

Known Issues

Installing BBM

1.****** Open the Beta Zone app on your BlackBerry 10 device and look for BBM (v10.7.3.15, 10.7.4.15, 10.7.5.24).

2.****** Select Install to update the BBM app

Note: Current chats will be lost by installing this version of BBM.

anyway, is it true that updating to this release will flush every chat? i'm currently on the 10.7.4.10 and yeah, all my chats were flushed upon updating to this build, oh gosh..

This is the only change. Looks to be free subscription initially during testing. I'm guessing it will go away once live.

It's clear that the BBM team received just one message - "monetize." This is a joke of an update. They should be focusing on features that bring new people in, not silly subscriptions to squeeze a few more pennies out of the few remaining diehards. Pretty disappointed with this one.

Well, if you want to try it out, now is the chance since it's still Free.
And after that, when the survey came, we all should say that we are willing for a one time payment OR annual payment.

It's understandable since BB10 users didn't get charged for BIS like old BBOS did. For years, BIS has become their major source of income.
Not that I think this is a right move since BBM competitor like Whatsapp, LINE, KakaoTalk, etc offers (sometimes) more features.
But as I said before, if you are in the Beta zone, use this opportunity to make yourself heard, and tell them when the survey came.

Just realized that the Free trial is just for one day. I'm thinking to give it a try for one month anyway

This was VERY sneaky. Entering the "free" trial made it sound like the first month would be free when in fact it is only the first DAY that's free and it's a calendar day not 24 hours (based on Canada time?! Who knows?).

Has anyone been able to add themselves to someone's BBM using a custom PIN yet? I tried from one of my other devices and it doesn't recognise my custom PIN as valid in BBM. Does it only work of both BBM apps are the beta version? Bit of a limited trial of that's the case.

Mypin just shows the phone's usual PIN not the custom one.

I'm not sure if the beta is open to new users. It's a restricted beta anyway so it seems it's more a case of BlackBerry chooses you rather than you get to opt in.
