I just had a thought. I've been a BlackBerry user for a long time, and for all that time I've had to pay a supplement for the use of BBM and other BlackBerry 'extras' which my provider calls a BlackBerry Add-on. I always assumed this was to fund BBM and the email functions of my phone. However,Now that iphone and Android users can use BBM for free...why am I still paying this extra fee for a service I hardly ever use? why are BlackBerry users charged extra when iphone and Android users get it FOR FREE?!

time to change your provider ASAP. Never let them dictate to you what you CAN or CANNOT do buy paying segregation pricing for data ... because DATA IS DATA IS DATA!

Payment to BB was system BIS not for BBM, with a BB10 not use BIS and you do not pay it, but neither passes your traffic data by BB servers

BlackBerry is changing its business model and that's why is giving BBM for free on iPhone and Android (and BB10 devices, also). But it still needs the BIS money in order to get through this transition (and, of course, there is no guarantee it will succeed).

OP, if you have a great solution that will save BlackBerry and in the same time will make BIS free on legacy devices, I am very curious to hear it, please share.

I didn't realise BB10 users didn't need an add-on. My bad. Last poster -I never said I had a solution, are you a BlackBerry spokesman or something?

Yea only legacy devices need BIS to work with BBM, this also includes all the other blackberry services which I miss on my BB10

Edit: BB10 for me is worth losing them though
