    This might be a stupid question, but it's puzzling me.

    A friend has an old curve on pay as you go T-Mobile. He hasn't topped up for over a month, so his BIS subscription for the month expired. Facebook and Twitter apps no longer work. BBM doesn't work when only using the network. However, BBM is still working over wifi. I'm baffled.

    Has BlackBerry changed it somehow so BBOS users can still use BBM over wifi without a BIS subscription, like ios and android users?

    It would be their service books still intact. Don't battery pull lol.

    He has an iffy battery. The phone has restarted several times since his BIS subscription ran out! Makes no sense!

    He hasn't pulled the battery per se, but the phone has turned itself off several times because the battery has gotten too low.

    I'm from Pakistan and I'm using BlackBerry services on Mobilink without any subscription on my Z10 for over a month now. Everything works. Whatsapp, BBM, Facebook etc. Tried putting in different network's SIM (Ufone), it didn't worked.

    BB10 do not need BIS. BBOS still do though.
