I use a Z10 STL 100-1 device running on the latest 10.2 OS. Off lately I've noticed that BBM is consuming a lot of CPU power and thus draining the battery. The device starts heating too. It's also downloading a lot of data.
Tried a restart and hard reset. None of which seems to work.
A small glance at the forum topics tell me that I am not alone facing this issue.
Did anyone manage to find a solution to this?

    Hi there,

it happened to me last week as well, after I got my Z30 out of Bedside Mode. 20% of the battery were gone in something like 30mins and this thing was hot! Anyways, couldn't find any way to restart BBM, so I restarted the phone and everything went back to normal afterwards.

    Hope it helps!

Tried restart and a hard reset too. But still the same. It keeps happening now and then.

Happened this morning on my Z10 stl 100-3. Noticed phone hot and battery down 50% in two hours. Had to restart phone. BBM using 50% battery on device monitor. Had to restart phone to make it stop. this is the third time in 5 days. I have noticed it occurring after channel notification from BlackBerry. We need this fixed. Thinking of shutting off notifications.

Had the same issue with the Z30:
BBM using 65% of battery! Battery drained in 3 hours... and no use of BBM at all, only 4 channels that i deleted.
I read the Bedside mode may be the cause, and i used it last night.
If the restart of the device doesn't make things right i'll try the hard reset.
Blackberry should resolve that issue, BBM is great and it can't act so weirdly on the battery.

Have u all ever noticed that bbm is much popular before whatsapp, yet whatsapp has gained access the whole world today..BBM should be better than whatsapp but it is not..SO many updates have been released for BBM but not such progress. The main thing is,whatsapp also works from smaller to larger devices from symbian to ios with all time background working but not such problems like delay sending, battery consumption .....Whatsapp awesome Supperbb U can also compare hike or wechat like apps...

Q10 with OS 10.2.2.1531 seems very low on resources as compared

Same issue here on Z30. If this doesn't get fixed soon, my next phone will not be a BlackBerry. I am currently on my 5th consecutive BlackBerry phone. At this point, if I could delete bbm, I would.

I will add that I have not been using bbm, and unsubscribed from all of my bbm channels. So, the fact that bbm is still doing so much in the background makes me think it could be spying on me as much as Android or iOS.

I disconnected BBM from Foursquare and rebooted. Will see if it keeps working OK, but BBM is now using less than 1% of my battery.

I have never used BBM on the Z30 (because none of my friends have Blackberries anymore). Today the phone's battery drained in several hours and was running hot. Looking in the Device Manage BBM is using 65% resources. Has there been a resolution to this? Can I just remove BBM?

Happened for the first time to me last night. I have never used BBM; I text just using regular SMS. But for some reason, I noticed my battery dropping off fast (Z30 on official 10.2.1.3062) so I checked device monitor; BBM was using 25% CPU. Did a volume-button reset and it's been idle since.

I didn't have the phone in bedside mode or anything, and didn't have any apps running. Just sitting in the cupholder of my work truck.

Good thing I had my car charger with me...but sure would like an explanation of why BBM was eating up my CPU and battery when I've never even used it.
