After some troubleshooting, I have figured out that leaving a BBM conversation is somehow filling my device memory. Any ideas why? Absolutely ridiculous considering it is a BlackBerry product.

Do you have "Save Chat History" option turned on in BBM Settings?

Not sure, but it doesn't matter. I have cleared and closed all old chats, but the problem started again. Although, I did have a new chat, but it only had a few messages.

Maybe I am wrong, as I keep "Save Chat History" option turned off, but all your hundreds of messages may be getting saved in background even though you are clearing them off the screen.

That wouldn't explain why I have over 2 GB free when I restart my phone but then it slowly fills up even with BBM closed. I think it may have been coincidental.

If you are using a BlackBerry, you cannot turn off BBM or erase it. It runs in background. I don't know where chat history is stored but could it be on BBM server and then loaded back on to your device when you turn it on or you log in with your BlackBerry ID even if you had wiped your phone? Just thinking.
To get to BBM settings, touch your name at top of BBM messages and then pull down from top of screen
