    I was wondering if there is a way to disable the chat sounds while in a conversation with another person. I'm doing my BBM chats in an open space and some other persons might get annoyed by the sound that BBM makes for every message I receive.

    In What's Up for example, you only get a sound if the conversation window is not the topmost one. In BBM, even if I talk with only one person, for every message I get, I get a sound also.

    I have tried to find an workaround for this but other then mute the sounds all the way or to trim down the volume I was unable to find.

    I'm facing the same problem. It can get annoying sometimes. But sometimes it can also be helpful to get notified even if the chat is open! A solution should be implemented in a future release. My preference would be to select silent chatting for active chats as an option.

    I'm assuming that you are not using a BlackBerry Z10, but just in case you are. Simply swipe down from the top, notifications, bbm, sound turned to off. Would an iPhone user or DROID user please post for the op ad well?

    It is a Z10 indeed. But the issue is that I do not want to mute entirely the sounds. Just in the current conversation, it would be helpful not to get a sound for every message I receive, since I'm already paying attention there. Other IM apps does that and I find it pretty decent.
