Well I found the answer.

Use the method in the post that I put up about unlocking the APN. Except when
you choose your carrier select "T-Mobile" instead of AT&T. After you have done that, check out the first post from here.

That fixed it for me.

Question Using BB AND iphone on t-mobile BB plan...how to?

I thank all for their replies. Some people seem to be able to successfully run their iphone on their BB data plan, by configuring the iphone. This then allows the user to switch between BB and iphone by switiching sim cards?

The directions for reconfiguring the iphone (which I am not sure is 100% fully unlocked and jailbroken) I think are best done by a tech savvy person? I don't know how you "reconfigure", but I know someone who probably can by using the info you have all posted. What I hope is I could switch, when needed, back to BB...still unbeatable for email, unless I get a stylus and learn to type fast on virtual keyboard! Consensus: Should I let someone with tech experience do the reconfiguring? ?

Even if you're not sure if it's unlocked you can unlock yourself quite easily once you get it. blackweather

Jailbreak the phone in less than a minute with that, and then unlock it when you get the blackra1n icon on your phone also in less than a minute.

I have a BB Storm1 on Vodafone Australia and I am looking at getting iphone 3gs also on Vodafone Australia. I want to keep both phones and switch my sim card between them both when I feel like it. Will this work for me even though I'm on Vodafone Australia and have an unlimited BB data plan?

Thank you

Vodafone in Australia is GSM or CDMA? Are you sure that the sim card that's
in your phone is what the phone runs off of?

Yeh, i pulled the sim card out and put the battery back in and after it booted up it has sos in the top right hand corner (where it usually has signal strength etc) and when i tried to make a call it says "Emergency Calls Only". When i opened the browser and tried to go to m.crackberry.com it said "The Browser cannot display the web page because the handheld does not contain a valid SIM card"

Is that what you mean?

I don't know if Vodafone is the official provider of the iPhone in Australia, but if they are then all you would have to do is switch your sim card and unlock the APN with the directions listed on the first page.

If Vodafone is not the official provider then your phone would require to also be unlocked as well as the APN.

Ok thanks.

Not sure what you mean by Vodafone being the 'official provider of the iphone in Australia' though. Vodafone is one of the major mobile phone carriers and offers the iphone on various different plans as well as buying it outright through them. Not sure if that makes them an official provider though.

So to be on the safe side should i just have the iphone unlocked by someone like Cellunlock and then unlock the APN via the instructions on the first side?

Thanks for your help on this

Nope since Vodafone is the provider for iphone you don't need to unlock the phone. All you need to do is the APN thing described in this thread.

Awesome thanks very much for your help.

I'm thinking of having it unlocked anyway because we travel a little bit internationally and i would like to be able to use it when we go away. Will this be ok if i did this as well as unlock the APN?

There is a universal unlock software that unlocks the phone in less than a minute.
