I switched to the v4.5.0.160/.131 and so far for a week now on my verizon network.....I have been getting horrible radio signals. My signal bar would constantly go from zero bars to three to four bars. Compared to my girlfriends verizon phone (non bb), she constantly has perfect signal.
I like the speed of this .160/.131 version but something is definitely wrong with the radio signal.
1XEV shows fine, just my signal strength is a constant up and down issue no matter where I am

Default Fixed!

blackngray, I tried Hybrid OS 8330 v4.5.0.169/.131 With BBM 5.0 and this resolved the slow data issue and corrupt profiles. I still get the chirps every once in a while but I can live with that as long as everything else is stable, been running this for over a week now. Thanks for the great tip.

This is referred to as signal bounce, and is a problem with the .131 radio in this hybrid. Try using the .169/.131 hybrid that blackngray posted the link for a few posts up. As mentioned, you might get some chirping during phone calls but your data speeds will be much faster and the signal should hold better with the .169 radio.

This may be a dumb question, but I'm curious enough to ask it. Is it possible/safe to download an OS upgrade without a PC? My BB is my only computer since I'm not home very much. So I just want to know my options for upgrading my OS.

No, you need a PC.

I left the 5.0 and i'm back with the hybrid now...its too unstable and the memory leaks are too severe...and even used the 5.0 hybrid thats out there...its just not worth it. My calendar took like 30 seconds to open and the functionality was suffering with the smallest of tasks. I actually think I DONT prefer the threaded text message.

You can reinstall your old OS and restore your backup if you have problems.

There is a link in my signature to recover a nuked BB but if you follow the instructions you should be fine

the MEGAUPLOAD links are dead, but are the attached .zip files the ones i need?
