Lightbulb screenshots, screen capture and display plus video creation

Here a two tools to get the Blackberry display content on your PC.

1) BBScreenShooter is a small tool that lets you easily take screenshots from your Blackberry.

2) BBScreenStream is a small tool that lets you display the Blackberry screen on a PC. You can even create an AVI file from the screen captures.

Both are useful for presentations or documentation.

Prerequisites:
- the BlackBerry Desktop Manager or Device Manager 4.x installed
- a Blackberry connected via USB
- the javaloader.exe from the BlackBerry JDS Components Package 4.x
- a video creation codec installed on the PC like e.g. DivX 4.2 or higher (for BBScreenStream)

Cost:
ZERO, this tool is free and stays free.
You may donate using paypal.

BBScreenShooter Features:
-takes a screen capture with a click
-copies the screenshot to the clipboard (allowing to paste it into other applications)
-adds a shaded frame around the picture
-saves the picture in BMP, JPG or PNG format
-re-sizes the picture from 25% to 200 %
-adds consecutive numbers to the file name
-built-in picture viewer
-push-to-tray function and hot-key assignment
-built-in software update function so you never miss a new version
-multilingual help text / unicode aware

Get javaloader.exe from:
BlackBerry - Java Development Environment
(only download the "BlackBerry JDE Component Package Downloads 4.7". You will find the javaloader.exe when you open the JDE installer EXE with 7-zip")

Feedback is welcome.
I am also looking for volunteers to translate the help text into other languages.

Greetings
Michael

@kasperapd: Good to know that the 8800 still supports the screenshot feature without changes.
But you could have made use of the shaded frame feature to make them look prettier... (joking)

True, I was pressed for time and had to get ready for work, so this was a rush job.

Default Updates

There are a few updates to both tools.
You can use the built-in update function to get the latest versions or just download them again.

The password can now be remembered. To activate this feature edit the ini files and set the "rememberPassword" value to 1.
The password is stored simple encrypted in the ini file.
An "open lock" icon in the black startup screen will remind you that this feature is enabled.

To other values in the ini file can be used to tweak the timeout values for device detection and password check.
connecttimeout = 127
passwordtimeout = 255
Increase them if you encounter problems. (heard of it from a few 8703 models)

Some bugs have been fixed as well including the tray icon problem when using the hotkey feature and the use of foreign languages special characters in names for the AVI files and folders.

I am still looking for volunteers to translate the help text shown in the help screen of the tools.

Greetings
Michael

P.S.
I just got my 8800 and I have the impression that the screenshots go faster now when the new version of javaloader is used as well. (the new version is 100K and comes with the JDE components package 4.2.1)

I have heard that the T-Mobile OS version for the CURVE should work, but can't test it. Nobody has paid for my 8300 yet...

T-Mobile Europe Europe offers:
4.2.2_Release_188_-_Platform_2.4.0.35_Applications_4.2.2.90 for the 8300.

Link to free download area
Blackberry

(not allowed to post the link....)

Unfortunately I don't have a device to test with.
