Default ms visual - must use bes push?

I'm looking to get into coding for bb and from what I can tell... if I use ms visual with the bb plugin then the final app must use the mds runtime and therefore can only be installed through a bes. Is this correct?

I do not see why they would make this fantastic plugin and then not allow a 'normal' user to install through DM... this surely cannot be the case - right?

Is eclipse with the bb jde really the only way to go for creating and installing apps through DM and not pushed through a BES?

Sooooo.... you do need to use the MDS runtime and push via BES or not?

I am just concerned I will create a program and not be able to use regular old desktop manager to load the thing... as from what I've read it looks like you can only use BES to push the apps created with ms visual...

Can you elaborate?
