| | Storm vs. iPhone vs. G1
not sure if this is a repost but i found this article interesting, the only problem i have with this, is that there isn't enough known about the storm yet for full comparisons thus the reason why the storm came in last place, but im pretty sure that the storm would have come in first if all details about everything dealing with the storm were out there. The writer just lost all credibility when he said the iPhone 3G's battery wins out.

Yeah that comparison is not credible. The memory thing is a clear advantage to the Storm. If he keeps putting down the phone for not being able to "prove" anything because it hasn't been released, then it shouldn't have been included in the review.
Ignore ChannelWeb.

That comparison is seriously laughable. I found the 'Battery Life' slide the most ridiculous. I don't think the author graduated high school. Linking to ChannelWeb should henceforth be banned.

Ignore ChannelWeb. | In what way is it an advantage for the storm, if I go out and buy the storm right now, how much memory will I get with it?

If the site had the storm on top, you would see how many praises it would get but because it's not the storm, all of sudden it's not credible. |

I think what he was trying to say that although the storm may not come with as much memory on board as does the Iphone, the advantge is that you can interchange as many micro SD cards as you please. The advanage lets you put as much music or video on any number of micro SD cards, so in reality, you are not limited to just 16GB of internal memory.

The writer just lost all credibility when he said the iPhone 3G's battery wins out. | I'm in complete and total agreement with you strat. He is obviously a big fan of the iphone. And really the storm can hold more memory due to the on board memory before inserting the card.

Does the G1 really come into the same ballpark? I can imagine other android devices will, but this one does not really seem like a contender, in the way people who want a storm or an iphone would not be persuaded by the G1. It looks like it has it's own niche at the moment.

I love how the G1 has the best browsing experience. What is that based on? Until somebody beats it (which we haven't seen enough of the G1 or Storm), the iPhone is clearly number 1 for mobile browsing. Quote: |

| I think you lose credibility in an article when his responses to 3G network comparison's are T-Mobile's is too small (A valid point) and the Storm isn't out. So the fact that the iPhone has been a complete mess on AT&T's 3G network (I have one and have been a loyal at&t customer for the past 9 years), yet it wins the network by default. Clearly this is someone who has seen the same reviews we have and tried to compare all three. Until someone can play with the three phones for an extended period of time, any comparison is just a biased opinion.
This is just one example. I think there are multiple places he loses credibility in the slides.

The iPhone has 16GB standard. The Storm 1GB.
The iPhone has 16GB for programs. The Storm 128MB.
The Storm allows for changeable SD cards. The iPhone does not.
Overall, I'd have to say the iPhone has a vastly superior memory system.

like i said in the original post, i think that if the storm was out and there were substantial reviews out there, im pretty sure the storm would be 1st or 2nd depending. but for the most part this is an incomplete "review" really more of a "tried to" comparison that i thought u guys mite find interesting.

What If I don't have any 16 gb cards lying around, do I have to go out and purchase additional cards, that just adds more additional costs to the device.

Without being able to expand upon the on board memory, only gives you two options. With a computer, you can always upgrade things as you see fit, such as the hard drive. You may have not need all the space to begin with, but now you do. It gives you the option. Unlike the Iphone, which gives you really no option. Its either 8gb or 16. No more, no less. I do agree that it adds cost, but its not a huge cost. SD cards are relatively cheap. Either way the point is that what RIM is trying to do is give you the option on how much memory the device has without limiting you just to the internal memory.
