Default Cant get the DM to upgrade

New to the the BB world and thanks for all the help in advance, downloaded the OS update from Blusegrass (several time before sucesss) ran the program...deleted the vender file. hooked up the BB and the DM says checking for updates then no updates availabe. if i click on the app loader it starts searching available for device software and just brings up all the apps. If i click update software it lists ver .236 as local installion and version .208 which is listed as (current). click on either one and next and it says no updATES AVAILABLE any help???

Mine is MEID as well. I'd bet that is the issue, right there. So, are all 8230s on VZW MEID devices? If so, has anyone with a VZW phone gotten it to update to 236? If not, we should make a new stickied thread listing the 234 software as the latest for the 8230m.
Actually, I think it's something totally different. I went into a Verizon store looking for a case for my Alltel 8230, and I began playing with the Verizon branded 8230 (silver). I checked the About screen, and it showed that it was a Blackberry 8230. However, my About screen on my Alltel shows that it is an 8230f. I wonder if this "f" has anything to do with it?

Also, I noticed that it only took the Verizon flip about 7 seconds to get a GPS lock in BBMaps, whereas it takes over 10 minutes to get it on my Alltel. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem when using DM 4.7, uninstalled 4.7 and installed DM 4.5 and everything worked great.
Just a thought.. It worked for me..

I can't find the vendor file in this Bluegrass download. It was there before. I am using a whole new computer and downloaded the file twice, uninstalled and reinstalled it. It is no where to be found I looked and had my computer search every RIM file. Is it disguised as a different name in Vista or something? I have had no success in updating my bb and it is becoming quite frustrating now

I'm in the same boat. I really hate Vista.

My 8230 runs very slow, as if almost on a delay when i push buttons. The icon for vm stays on even though I checked the msg.

I've done several battery pulls with no avail. I'm thinking of exchanging the phone, but when I go to the store magically the phone is symptom free.

OH, and the phone rings/alerts whenever it wants. Sometimes the notifiers/chimes rings when an email/text comes through, sometimes it doesn't. And, no I haven't deleted the sample file for ring tones.

I just want my phone to work.

Has anyone noticed if this OS update does anything for the native browser speed?

Has anybody successfully upgraded the OS on a verizon blackberry flip? I've tried every version of Desktop Manager and Crack mem with no success. The programs simply refuse to see the .236 as available update.

Just use the app loader in the OS file itself. No need for DM.

This does not work, I've tried every method of flashing the OS, as well as every available version of DM. I've even wiped the device with Crackmem.

THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK WITH 4.6.1.284! APP ERROR 200 WHEN I TRIED!

Like many, I was unable to load these updates, but the one from my carrier would work fine.

Before I start, I'll put a big WARNING on this, as I'm not sure what running the update with the old Platform files will break (if anything).

I was able to install this update on my flip by doing the following:
  1. Download and install the 4.6.1.236 update
  2. Copy all the files in the folder below to a backup location:
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8230-v4.6.1.236_P3.3.0.70
  3. Uninstall the 4.6.1.236 update
  4. Download and install the old update from your carrier
  5. Overwrite all the files in the folder containing your carriers update with all the files you backed up from the 4.6.1.236 update EXCEPT the ..\CDMA\ folder.
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8230-v4.6.1.182_P3.3.0.64
  6. Optional: Use CrackMem to remove the modules you don't want.
  7. Load the update using Loader.exe (or WIPE from CrackMem). Update will show up as the version of your carriers update.

That's the basic steps. I also left the Vendor.xml in place as it was from my carrier anyway. If you rename the folder for the update, it won't work. I was also using this on a computer running DM 4.3, but should work with any version as long as auto update is removed.

It seems the issue is with my phone is it's running Platform 3.3.0.64, and the new update here is 3.3.0.70. After updating with this method, my phone shows Platform 3.3.0.64 and App Ver 4.6.1.236.

YMMV! Post your results if you try this!

My phone has been running fine for a week now using the above method to update the phone OS.

I'd say it's good to go!

Does anyone know why its beneficial to upgrade the OS? I'm mainly wondering about the battery life, since the battery life on mine is horrible.
