Default BlackBerry KickStart 8220 Review

Hey All,

Just like the BlackBerry 9000 Review, I figured I'd set up a thread here for discussion surrounding the BlackBerry KickStart review I posted in the blogs!

BlackBerry KickStart Review Series

- Part 1: BlackBerry KickStart 8220 Hands-On Hardware Review
- Part 2: BlackBerry KickStart 8220 Hands-On Video Tour

The obligatory hands-on first review shot!

Part II probably coming on Monday. Want to use it for a few more days before writing it up - see how the battery life is, if I can get the knack of SureType (have always been a full Qwerty guy), etc.

One thing Ive never seen mentioned anywhere is the internal memory. Are you gonna cover all that in a later review?

This was going to be my dream phone. But, three heart breaking pieces of news:

1.) No WiFi for AT&T customers. My plan was to not pay the $30/month for the data plan and just use WiFi with Opera Mini and Tiggit...

2.) No 3G support. No, I wasn't going to pay for it. But in the next couple of years, online mobile access is going to become more and more valuable as more services become available. At which point, I would pay for it.

3.) Micro USB vs. Mini-USB?? I've already got like 7 mini-usb cables and chargers laying around for old RAZR's (and there has been talk that the Kickstart is being marketed directly to people who used to like the old RAZR's). There better be some huge technological advantage to micro-usb other than it's a little smaller than mini-usb...

Damn. Looks like I'm sticking with my old RAZR V3xx for another year or so... Damn.

Now that I think about it, no WiFi for AT&T is probably AT&T's effort to make as many people as possible have to pay the $30/month for the data plan. The whole intent of doing that is probably to ace the plans of users like myself who just wanted WiFi and no data plan.
