I just got my 13" 2.26GHz MacBook Pro and tried this earlier amd no luck.

If I can't get this to work, its going back.

bembol: If you capture some log information, we *may* be able to help.

* In your Dialup network connection, choose Advanced, PPP tab, Configuration Settings and enable "Use Verbose Logging"
* Attempt to connect
* Using the "Console" application, find the ppp.log

This will give you a lot more information about what is going on.

the pppd replacement fixed the issues i was having after updating to 10.5.7 and .282 on the bold.
10.5.6 and OS .266 are still the fastest connection in terms of initiating the tethering, it was almost instant, but now its about 19 seconds.

mine works like a charm! on tiger with blackberry bold at&t straight out of the box... didn't change a single thing and followed the instructions! added the tethering plan to my acct just cause i'm scared of the $3,000+ bills i read about online... will try it for the month, and if i don't like it - i'll take it off!

Can anyone with ATT confirm whether doing this without a tethering plan runs up extra charges on your bill or not?

I'm having a few issues and wondering if anyone can help.

I'm not in a 3G area at the moment. My Bold reads EDGE with 4 bars.

I installed the PPPD patch before anything, then paired the devices successfully. However, I can't seem to select under modem other Vendor: Blackberry 3G CID1. Instead, I only get a Verizon option. I also tried using generic 3G and it didn't work.

I'm wondering if the problem is the fact that I'm not in a 3G area when I paired my mac and Bold. I'm thus not getting the correct modem script?

Any help appreciated.

Another way of asking the same above question is: do I need 3G to tether?

Never mind. I answered my own question and fixed the bug. Just a matter of putting the appropriate script in the appropriate directory.

Note to self: read ALL instructions, not bits and pieces.
