Question New ATT release? rel438_PL4.0.0.217_A4.6.0.167

Just download and installed this from Blackberry/ATT:
9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel438_PL4.0.0.217_A4.6.0.167_AT_am p_T.exe

Software Platform version is 4.0.0.217, but the Applications version is same old 4.6.0.167 ?

Is this new ?? Blackberry download has todays date on it....

Nope. Not new. 4.6.0.247 is the latest "official" OS. Check out the sticky at the top of this section.

4.6.0.266 & 5.0.0.90 are the latest leaks. Check out the OS Beta section.

Understood it isn't new, but why would AT&T bother to release a "new" old firmware? Especially if we all know that .247 is newer and 5.0.0.90 has been leaked. Doesn't make sense.

Thank you, thats my question...

I said "New ATT release", I guess a new release can be an older version...

The Platform on .247 is 4.0.0.206. The Platform for what is listed on AT&T's download(4.0.0.217) page is higher than that. It seems as though someone made a mistake somewhere when naming the exe file. But that's definitely NOT .167. The Platform is way way too high.

Also, since we're on the subject of official releases...just wondering why .266 isn't listed as an official release under the Bold 9000 forum?

Vodafone UK is listing the software here

If that link doesn't work, just go to the blackberry.com site and click on Vodafone UK.

Oh. My bad.

edit: also, for those wanting East Asian .266, you can go to SmarTone-Vadafone under Asia Pacific on the blackberry.com site

OK...so what is a good OS for an AT&T Bold without screwing it up?

I've been wanting to try all these OS' but have been weary of device failure.

.247 is the most current, stable release AFAIK. Its what I am running, but I have not looked into .266 yet.

If you'll be upgrading I'd go with either 247 or 266. Both are very nice. I prefer 266 just a bit. Better memory management, a bit faster and smoother moving through the OS. Battery life seems to be about the same as it was on 247.
