| | Got an IP address but GREYED out WIFI
HMMMMMMMMMM,
I am puzzled, can unplugging a couple of routers in my home network and installing a new network media player, cause the BOLD to completely forget how to contact BOTH of my wireless networks. I was running .150 and noticed that wifi was suddenly unavailable (got an IP address, displays the SSID, but no usage). Just did the BETA .162 and same problem, everything else is working fine though.
I am downloading the official 162, will delete the vendor.xml and try that,
I have searched and read about 10 posts of people who have this problem but there is no follow up or solution in any of the "post your findings" threads.
I feel this needs its own thread.
Thanks in advance People

Hi there thanks for starting the thread, I agree it does need its own thread, my problems started when I upgraded to official .162, my WiFi has worked on all previous updates and was working until last night, which means official 162 has been running for 4 days or so, I woke up this morning and no WiFi, I have tried allsorts to rectify and absolutely nothing has made any difference. Tried all the usual, battery pulls, service books, downgrade of OS back to .150, but now still got full connection to router, IP address allocated, SSID is showing on phone Etc, but WiFi icon is greyed out !!
I am lost without my WiFi, any one any suggestions ?
QUICK UPDATE : just downgraded to .126 and still no WiFi, now moved back up to .150 step by step thru .147 etc and finally back to beta .162, which incidentally has worked perfect for me in the past, and still no WiFi, Heeeeeeelp !!!!
Regards and thanks in advance
Lee

well this is spooky, I was running 167 downgraded to 162 last night perfect wifi and woke this morning to wifi connected OK but greyed out wifi symbold and no green tick.
I wiped device prior to downdrade with jl comander, the great OS 162 went back on no problem and wifi was fine, woke up this morning and as I say wifi connects but greyed out and no green tick which as far as I know means connected to wifi router but cant use wifi to surf net.
mmmmmmm
Anybody??

At work I get rock solid connection all day no matter where in the building and have done with every OS from .147 through .167 yet at home I have to unpug my router sometimes to get it to connect
Why dont RIM publish what routers to use ?
Very annoying

Ok so we are getting some feedback now, we can safely say that this is not a hardware problem but software, it is greyed out but pings work, that means that the bit that tells the browser or mail or viigo or anything that could use wifi outside of wifi tools is FUBAR
Has anyone used jl commander and started from fresh maybe clearing the gremlins
I don't think this is router dependent markuk, I also don't see how this is to do with the carrier but I'm no expert.
Has anyone tried any changes deletions on the host routing tables?
