Tried it both ways but only works with dial from home screen enabled by the looks of it.

Strange that i only get the Help screen with various topics on how to use the phone. I know my Bold is definitely unlocked and unbranded as it has no carrier logos or anything like that

Luckily with Rogers, you can lock yourself into 3G only.

Ummm.....I have been using the escreen for tweaks and such for a while and I HIGHLY recommend you do NOT make any changes if you don't know what you are doing. If you do make any changes make sure to document each step so you can reverse the changes if needed. You can SERIOUSLY screw a LOT of stuff up in there. Problem is there is not a search page for what everything does as it is the engineering screen for RIM use and I don't think they will be posting a "help me" guide to the escreen anytime soon.

Wow. Trippy screens. Definitely seems like you can screw up your phone if you don't know what you're doing. Very interesting, though.

I've noticed that upgrading/downgrading usually rewrites everything in the engineering screen (can't really guaranty that thou) so you're pretty much safe.

I have an unbranded/unlocked phone so that's why I can access that screen, oh and for me only works if I have the dial from screen disabled.

you can find some interesting information: like battery temp., at what speed is your processor currently running, etc.

I managed to get into my Eng. Screen using the link above. Pretty interesting, Very interesting to see my Core Clock is at 156mhz about 75% of the time. Nice bit of battery life saving there. Hits 624mhz about 7% of the time tho =)

I've also got it working, and it's quite fascinating! I don't know what half of it means, but wat I do recognize is cool. Made a few modifications...hope everything goes well.

What are the mods? Can you folks who understand what's on these escreens walk us through what you're doing (and why)?

I don't understand wat's going on in the engineering screen for the most part. The mods I've made all fall under the OS engineering screen....I've altered stuff related to bluetooth and gps to enhance it's functionality. Everything else is gibberish to me, and I DARE not modify anything else!

Ive seen the screen (Thanks for the link) but I really can't think of anything I would improve on my bold via the enginieering screen, so for that reason, I am out.

What did you adjust related to bluetooth? I have some problems losing the connection to my Pioneer radio.

Does anybody know if there is a way to show the bluetooth signal strength, either by the engineering screen or some other way? If I go to Options -> Status I can see the network signal strength. The bluetooth strength has to be visiable somewhere.

To access the escreen, access the device "Help Me!" screen. For QWERTY devices, perform the key combination Alt+Shift+H on the homescreen. For SureType devices, type Alt+EACE on the homescreen. For SurePress devices, hold the Escape button, and tap the screen upper left, upper right, upper left, and upper right corners in that sequence.

The "Help Me!" screen contains the application version, PIN, and current up time. Without leaving the "Help Me!" screen, enter that information into the generator. The generator will give you the 8 digit code for the current "Help Me!" screen. If you close the "Help Me!" screen, the device uptime will no longer match the uptime used to generate the code.

Type the 8 digit code into the "Help Me!" screen. You will not see the digits as you type them, but once all 8 correct digits are entered, the escreen will activate. Make sure to use Alt for the numbers on QWERTY devices. Make sure to use multitap to enter the digits on SureType devices.

Once activated, the escreen will replace the "Help Me!" screen for the duration specified when generating the code. You can close the escreen earlier by setting your device clock ahead past the expiration time, reactivating the "Help Me!" screen, then setting your device clock back to normal. Note: Devices with a vendor ID of 1 (RIM engineering sample devices) will always have the escreen open.

Works perfectly...nice find...not sure what I can all do in the "e-Screen"...but there is lots of stuff in there...and for those that asked...NO you do not have to turn off the type from home screen feature...just push the 3 buttons and it takes you there...follow the above link that was provided in the previous poster and do what it says on that page.
