Default Bold Speaker Very Low sound! !

My Bold speaker is having very low sound.. While on a call when I activate the speaker is so low I can barely hear it. On the other hand my Curve 8310 is having amazing sound quality..

Is there any settings to get more sound when the speaker is activated while on a call?????

Thanks...

When you activate the speaker by pressing $ what is the volume set at, is shows you over at the right hand side of the screen in a vertical bar?

This has happened to me too.

About a week ago, I noticed the speaker was much more quiet than it used to be when I first got it (In January).

I figured the speakers were blown.

Yesterday I called in ATT handheld support and have requested a replacement through warranty.

It sucks because I had hoped the blackberry devices had a better life span than other phones. Three months and the speaker is blown. Come on. And I take good care of my phones. I have only dropped it about 3 times onto a carpeted surface, not enough to cause it any damage.

This morning, I noticed that the speakers got even worse. I can barely hear my phone ring anymore.

It's a issue that I've noticed...if you squeeze the top together (be careful not to mess up the screen) it should get louder. I haven't tore it apart to find out why it does it yet...but I know this fixes it for a few days.

What do you mean by "squeeze the top together?"

oh my god you are right.

I just took out the battery cover, turned on some music, placed the bottom part of my thumb over the flash and squeezed the front and back "plates" of the phone together and the problem is gone.

The more pressure I put on the phone, the louder it gets. What the **** is going on???

I'm about to tighten the top two torx screws to see if it does anything.

EDIT: If anyone is going to press on the screen, BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO PRESS ON THE SCREEN. you can easily displace the lcd fluid and that might not be good.

I just used the torx screw and tightened it, it didn't seem like it did anything. The size of the torx screw for the back screws is a T-5 if anyone was wondering.

I applied enough pressure on the phone that now it is playing as loud as I first got the phone.

The problem is not the signal. It's the volume of the speakerphone.

Can someone look into this? there must be something loose on the inside. Is there an exploded diagram of the bold anywhere or has anyone taken the phone apart.

I found an easier way to press on the bold to make it louder. Two fingers on the front silver siding and your thumb pressing against the area JUST ABOVE the flash. no need to touch the screen.

Phew not only me then. Thanks for the thread here. I solved mine for now by folding a little bit of paper a few times, putting it at the top of the flash and reattaching the cover. Works fine now.

Guys taking all the suggestions which you have mentioned and discussed above I have successfully fixed this issue on my Bold. Now my speaker sound is normal..

Hears what I did:
I removed the back cover, took off all the screws and separated the back frame from the mother board carefully. Then I gently popped the speaker out of the frame which the speaker is resting. (do this carefully from a side of the speaker by lifting it up).. Then I just cleaned the front side of the speaker replaced it. Also I raised the two connectors from the speaker to the mother board.

Hope it will work for you too.... Please post back if it does...

I think the only thing that probably needed to be done was "raising the two connectors from the speaker to the motherboard." Nice fix.

Then one time I took off my battery cover while a song was playing and it got louder instantly! I then put the battery cover back on, and poof - muted. This is because the sound ports get blocked by the battery cover if it is not 100% in the right place

Now it's muted when the back cover is on, but if I press tightly with my fingers the cover rests snugly and everything sounds normal.

Extremely annoying and I miss calls because of it. Anyone else notice this?

Tadaaa others with my problem!
Do not press down on the screen, instead, try adjusting the battery cover.

I didn't have to disassemble the device, I just pushed the white thing just under the flash where you have to push to have a louder sound with the tip of a pencil. It became louder as soon as I have pushed it, just be careful not to put too much pressure on it.
